Platform Engineer
About the Role
We’re looking for a Sr. Software Engineer to help us design, build, and scale Perpetual’s platform — the first precision health system for dogs. You’ll be at the center of building platform-first products that transform raw diagnostic data into insights, action plans, and personalized supplement formulations. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in fast-moving, startup environments, loves solving complex problems, and wants their work to directly extend the healthy years of pets around the world.
What You’ll Do
- Design & implement micro-services architectures to power scalable platform solutions.
- Develop robust backend systems and assist with the development of light frontend support (React/Next.js).
- Build and optimize serverless systems, including CI/CD pipelines tailored for serverless environments.
- Integrate AI-driven tools into QA, release, and development processes.
- Design and manage background processes to support real-time insights and reporting.
- Integrate 3rd-party APIs, and build + maintain REST and GraphQL APIs.
- Work with SQL and key/value databases to ensure integrity, speed, and scalability.
- Collaborate closely with product, growth, and science teams to ship high-impact features.
What We’re Looking For
- 5+ years in backend or platform engineering, ideally with startup experience.
- Programming expertise in Node.js, TypeScript, React and Next.js
- Cloud expertise with Cloudflare (preferred), Railway, Vercel, or Render. We're not an AWS, Azure or GCP shop.
- Strong experience with micro-services, serverless architectures, and CI/CD.
- Hands-on with REST + GraphQL APIs, background processes, and 3rd-party integrations.
- Knowledge of databases (SQL and key/value).
- Comfortable with light frontend development in React/Next.js.
- Bonus: experience embedding AI into developer workflows (QA, testing, automation).
